I have always found the correlation between hair and gender/identity to be particularly interesting. Many of the Shophitchcock designs are inspired by the idea of hair as a signifier of identity. The company name itself is derived from the colour of our hair - a defining physical feature of each of us.
Warrior was the first design to be completed and is inspired by the observed notion that long hair = femininity and femininity = beauty. Does short hair or no hair at all really equate to a lesser presentation of femininity or beauty?
I wanted to present an image of a bald woman to challenge this idea. A powerful image and a beautiful one. She can be both, and her identity is not defined or restricted by the absence of hair.
